Available in English or Spanish Developed by Lori A. Frost, M.S., CCC/SLP and Andrew Bondy, Ph.D., this manual guides the reader through the six phases of PECS. The goal of PECS is to provide children with an effective and functional means of communication. Using picture symbols, children learn to construct sentences and more complex communications. They are taught to initiate communication in a social context. Many children learn "the exchange" in the first training session. This manual includes instructions for constructing the pictures, discrimination training tips, data sheets, and a PECS parent handout. This is the essential manual for the implementation of PECS.
